Cremation for Pets
Although the Cremation Society of New Hampshire does not cremate animals (our cremation equipment is only used for humans) we do offer a very large assortment of cremation urns specifically for pets. We also sell a number of other pet-related products such as monuments, markers, keepsakes and pendants. Whatever your need, you can be assured that the same level of quality and compassion we provide to our human family members we serve will be extended to the pet products we offer.
Determining The Size of the Pet Urn You Need Pet urns come in a variety of sizes. All of the urns we offer specify the volume capacity of cremated remains that it will hold. The urn capacity is stated in cubic inches. As a rule of thumb, one pound of your pet's weight will equal one cubic inch of cremated remains. For example, a large dog weighing 100 pounds will require and urn 100 cubic inches in size. A small cat weighing only five pounds will require a small urn of five cubic inches. Of course, if you see an urn you like that is larger than needed, feel free to select that size. Many pet owners will include pictures of their animal in the urn as well as other mementos such as their pet's favorite toy.
Selecting the Appropriate Urn There are a number of factors to consider when deciding on the type of urn to select for your pet. Probably the most important consideration is what will the urn be used for. If the cremated remains are going to be buried on your property or in a pet cemetery, an urn made of durable material such as metal or stone will be most appropriate. If the urn is to be kept at home, style, color and shape may be more important. Price is also an important consideration. Take your time in selecting an urn. Don't rush to purchase something that you might later regret.
