The award was created to spotlight the extraordinary commitment and compassion of professional hospice caregivers who provide unparalleled end-of-life care.

Nancy’s 21-year career in hospice nursing was highlighted in a nomination by Vanessa Sheehan, associate nursing director and administrator of hospice at HCS. The foundation’s board members were moved by Nancy’s steadfast dedication to her patients and recognized her ability to bring dignity, peace, and comfort to those she serves during life’s most challenging moments.

A Dedication Beyond Medical Care

She delivers emotional and spiritual support, tailoring her approach to meet the unique goals and needs of each patient and their family. Nancy’s holistic approach ensures that every individual in her care is treated with dignity and compassion, embodying the highest ideals of hospice caregiving.

“Nancy exemplifies the highest standards of caregiving. Her compassion and dedication are truly remarkable, and it is an honor to recognize her contributions to the community,” said Arthur O. “Buddy” Phaneuf, president of the Cremation Society and chairman of the foundation’s board.

A Humble Superstar

Nancy’s reaction to the award was a testament to her humility and commitment to her role. Reflecting on the surprise announcement, she said, “Honestly, I just feel like I do my job every day. To get recognition for that is surprising, but also deeply meaningful.” She spoke of her determination to continue setting a high standard, adding, “This honor inspires me to keep up that reputation and not rest on my laurels.”
