Uttam “Tom” Mistry, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away after a courageous battle from a long illness on Friday, November 19, 2021 in Brattleboro, VT. He was 72. Born December 16, 1948 in Kenya and is the eldest of seven siblings. His family moved to England when he was in his teens.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Jyostana “Joyce,” of 49 years. They moved to the US in 1979 and settled in West Brattleboro in 1982. They have two children: Krishna, and Ashwin and his wife Heather. Tom also leaves behind two young grandchildren, Max and Mia, who he adored spending time with.
Tom retired in 2016 from G.S. Precision after a 35 year career as an Aerospace Sales Engineer. In his spare time, he was very active and an avid golfer, gardener and traveler. He enjoyed cooking, cars and spending time with family and friends. Tom was also a member of the Brattleboro ELKS.
Tom was the type of person who always had a sunny deposition and a generous spirit, ready to provide a helping hand and insight, as well as donating to local charities.
Services will be held privately.
