Cremation Payment Options

Funeral expenses can be expensive, there’s no denying that. All too often, families and individuals approach funeral planning only to find they are unprepared for the reality of paying for them. It is frustrating, confusing, and even a little scary, especially if you’ve just experienced a personal loss.

We understand that, and we want to make things a little easier for you. We have compiled this list of payment options to help you and your family make the necessary preparations with a little less stress and a lot more peace of mind. Other clients who have been in your shoes have found these resources useful; we hope that you do too.

Payment Policies

Our general payment policy is that payment be made in full prior to any of the services being rendered. We regrettably are not able to accept life insurance assignments or settlement of estates through probate as a means of payment. For your convenience, we offer the following payment options.

Cash, Personal Check, or Credit Card

We do our best to offer you payment arrangements that are as easy and convenient as possible, so we accept any standard payment method (cash, check, or credit) for services rendered. If you are still struggling, talk to us. You may be eligible for a payment plan. You can also make a payment on our website here.

Pre-Payment

Pre-paying for your final arrangements is always a smart move so, when you are comfortable and ready to make the investment, we’ll be here for you. One of the benefits of pre-payment is that it guarantees your wishes are carried out fully. It benefits your family as well because they won’t have that stress if they are left to plan after you’re gone. And, payment plans are available.

Life Insurance

If you have life insurance, you may use the policy to pay for your funeral. This can be done through our full-service funeral home, Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium. If you are interested in going this route, please visit their payment page.

Crowdfunding

Many people are turning to crowdfunding to raise funds to pay for a variety of expenses, including final arrangements. While it may seem unorthodox to some, and some people may be leery of taking this route, the truth is, there are many people who want to help, including family, friends, loved ones, and the wider community your loved one may have touched. Yet you may not know how to ask for the help. Crowdfunding provides a less aggressive way of reaching out to people and asking for help. They can visit your page, click the link and donate. There are several sites that are very trustworthy: GoFundMe.com, YouCaring.com, CrowdRise.com, Treasured Memories Funding, and IndieGogo.com.

Social Services/Assistance

It is our policy that no one be denied a proper and dignified cremation due to financial limitations. In New Hampshire, city and town welfare departments provide financial assistance for deceased residents who are indigent, or whose immediate family members do not have the ability to pay for a cremation. In Vermont, this is administered at the State level. Learn more.

Phaneuf Family Foundation

The Phaneuf Family Foundation is a non-profit offering financial assistance for funeral and cremation arrangements for New Hampshire and Vermont families and individuals in need. The foundation’s maximum distribution amount to any one request by a family, organization or student will not exceed $1,000. Requests for distributions may be made by a family member, friend, funeral director, social worker, hospice or nursing home employee or another interested party.  Learn more.
