The New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery is located in Boscawen which is less than two miles from our Concord office. It is operated by the Adjutant General’s Department with operations overseen by the Superintendent.
The eligibility requirements for interment in this state veteran’s cemetery are consistent with those followed by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs National Cemetery System. Veterans who have been honorably discharged as well as members of the National Guard or Reserve who have a minimum of 20 years of service are eligible for interment in the cemetery.
There are two options that the cemetery offers for the interment of cremated remains: burial in the ground, or in a niche in an outside columbarium. It is the responsibility of the family to choose the option that they want for their loved one.
There is no cost to the veteran for interment of the cremated remains. A non-veteran spouse or other qualified family member who wishes to be interred in the cemetery is required to pay a $350 fee. Space cannot be reserved in advance, but the veteran can apply to confirm that they are eligible for interment in the cemetery.
